On a record-breaking hot day in July, this Texan-couple brought the heat for their wedding at Beech Ridge Barn in Scarborough, Maine. Sonya and John celebrated with their closest family and friends from all over the world in a state that has played an integral part of their love story. This venue, located only ten minutes from Portland International Jetport, was a perfect choice for their destination guests. Additionally, Beech Ridge was only minutes from some of the couple’s favorite Maine haunts, like the Holy Donut.
Sonya, who works in events herself, had a clear and beautiful concept of what she wanted for her special day. We helped her construct a custom ‘donut drawer’ topped with a cake from another of the couple’s favorite spots – Scratch Bakery in South Portland. We helped keep the party going by orchestrating an outdoor cocktail hour in the shade to cool off and barn reception as a cool retreat for guests.
Sonya and John brought a little more of their Southern flair to their Maine event with country music and cowboy hats as they danced the night away. True to their fun spirits, the couple ended the night with a sparkler send-off before being driven off in an open-air, vintage FJ Cruiser – complete with suitcases strapped to the back to take them straight to their honeymoon.
