With a coastline longer than California\u2019s, we couldn\u2019t pick just one honeymoon local, so we\u2019ve written up our top three favorites. Get ready to plan the perfect Maine honeymoon, anniversary trip, or spontaneous couples adventure!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Honeymooning in Maine – Relax and Indulge Outside the City<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

What is more romantic than a spa weekend outside of Bon Appetit\u2019s 2018 Restaurant City of the Year<\/a>? Switch between exploring the harborside city filled with maritime history and boutique shopping and relaxing in the beach towns just minutes from downtown. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For a luxury option, we recommend Cape Elizabeth\u2019s Inn by the Sea<\/a>, with spa packages and beach front access. Just fifteen minutes from Portland, this resort feels a world away and provides the perfect space to sit back and unwind in between trips into Portland. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For those looking into get in on the action of the city, Portland\u2019s Press Hotel<\/a> is a boutique hotel with rich history and connections to the city\u2019s artist community. If that isn\u2019t enough to convince you, this spot is also environmentally friendly and LEED certified and their restaurant, Union, serves up some of the best avocado toast in town. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For both avid foodies and those looking for affordable eats, Portland is the place for you. Indulge at the legendary Fore Street<\/a> and take a trip around the world with the innovative Japanese cuisine at Pai Men Miyake<\/a>.  During the hot summer months, taking the ferry to Peaks Island is a must \u2013 and wouldn\u2019t be complete without fueling up for the day at Tandem Coffee<\/a> (we\u2019re partial to the iced coffee and cinnamon rolls). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Downeast Date Night in Camden <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

For those looking to explore the natural beauty of Maine\u2019s extensive coast, Camden is the ideal launching pad. Complete with gorgeous ocean views, a quaint downtown, and accessible hiking, Camden is the complete package. Gorgeous and romantic, without being dull, Camden is one of our top spots for a honeymoon trip. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We recommend the Samoset Resort<\/a>, particularly for those who love to golf, or check out Camden\u2019s newest boutique hotel, 16 Bayview.<\/a> During the day, walk down the main drag and enjoy views of the Atlantic, dotted with sailboats, and the antique homes that dot the coast line. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re feeling adventurous, Mount Battie is located just up the road from Camden\u2019s Main Street. A short hike with rewarding views, Mount Battie is the perfect way to spend an afternoon away from the beach. Personally, we like the celebrate summiting with an oversized ice cream at the Gifford\u2019s Stand in Camden afterwards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once you\u2019ve had your fair share of lobster rolls, check out the affordable and satisfying Thai fare at Long Grain.<\/a> This eatery is a favorite among locals and draws in Pad Thai enthusiasts from around the state.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Romantic Road Trip<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

One of the best parts of Maine are the hidden gems \u2013 often untouched coves best found when meandering up the coast line. For those looking to explore and see the all the state has to offer, a road trip with your loved one is a great way to get to know Maine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although there are too many quaint towns to list, we love Deere Isle and the surrounding islands \u2013 connected by breathtaking bridges, for those looking to kayak, hike, and peruse hand-crafted pottery. Removed from the main drag, Deere Isle is a peaceful spot almost entirely inhabited by locals who have lived there for generations. Check out El El Frijoles<\/a> and make sure to sample the lobster tacos.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The best spot to end a road trip in Maine is, hands down, Acadia National Park and Mount Desert Island. From camping to charming bed and breakfasts, you can\u2019t go wrong in this area. Be one of the first people in the United States to see the sunrise by climbing (or driving) up Cadillac Mountain first thing in the morning. Check out the Beehive Trail for a fun loop complete with scrambling up ladders and boulders. Our favorite part about hiking in Acadia? The hikes are manageable, but the views are breathtaking. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
